About us

About us...

At Kākātahi School we embrace our local environment and encourage our learners to be the best they possibly can by supporting their interests. Our school day begins at 9:00am and concludes at 3:00pm. Our learning spaces include one classroom that hosts reading literacy, art, our library and the sciences, while our main/home room is where our learners come together for written literacy, numeracy lessons and other daily learning. We are fortunate to have a purpose built covered  outside space so our learners get to be in the fresh air no matter what weather it is.

Year 7 and 8 learners participate in weekly technology lessons on site for 20 weeks each year. These include cooking, soft materials, hard materials and ICT/coding.

As a small rural school we work closely with our neighbouring schools to ensure our learners get many opportunities to develop social capabilities and make friends outside of the Kākātahi environment. We are part of the Ruapehu Kahui Ako group of schools and therefore can provide our learners with all the opportunities larger schools have.
